How long will the gel packs last when they are frozen?
This will depend on the insulation used in your shipping box and your packaging method. Generally speaking, the gel packs will stay frozen from 24-36 hours in an insulated container. At room temperature, figure on about 3-4 hours. Most importantly, they will stay frozen longer than ice!
What are the applications for gel packs?
The Gel Packs protect almost anything that needs to have a constant temperature for a specific period of time. These gel packs should not be used alone for products requiring temperature maintenance of below 0° Celsius, but they can be used to extend the performance of dry ice etc. when used together. They also make a great first aid item for bumps and bruises, headaches, etc. Great for picnics and road trips.
Can the gel packs be re-used?
Yes, they can be thawed and re-frozen many times.
What is the size of the gel packs?
The basic sizes are 6”x8”, 8”x10”, and 11”x14” however custom sizes are available upon request depending on quantities. The gel weight ranges from 8oz to 80oz. Specific weights are available upon request.
How many gel packs are needed to provide for efficient constant cooling?
Exactly how many required will vary with different packaging methods and the products being shipped and the length of time the products will be kept within the container.
What happens if a gel pack gets punctured and some gel leaks out?
If a cell gets punctured and some gel leaks out, don't worry. The gel is food grade and absolutely non-toxic and will do no harm, simply rinse it off with water and dispose of as instructed.
How do you dispose of used gel packs?
Our gel packs are filled with a non-toxic food grade solution. You can re-use them for a picnic or in a lunch box. Once you’re finished, melt the ice packs, cut open the bags, pour the non-toxic solution down the drain/toilet (using water to further dissolve the gel), and recycle the plastic pouch.
Will the gel packs cause freezer burn or will they stick to my skin?
Not at normal freezer temperatures. If the gel packs have been in contact with extreme cold (e.g. dry ice) it will maintain that extreme temperature for a time and should be handled with the same care as any similarly cold item.
Which side should face the product?
It does not matter because all products shipped in direct contact with any refrigerant product should be wrapped in plastic or placed inside a cheap plastic bag. This prevents possible water damage from condensation that results from any type of frozen refrigerant in contact with your product's packaging.
How much better will gel packs perform if I use more packs?
Any refrigerant will last longer if more are used. The more gel you put in the container to keep your drinks/food cold, the longer they will remain cold. We recommend that you conduct your own tests.
Do you carry any stock items?
We do not carry stock items because we are a custom made-to-order foam manufacturer. We focus on providing customers with sizes and materials that fit their exact needs.
What if I need samples?
We typically like to obtain specific details about your project, then send you samples to test.
How do I place an order?
We are very flexible with how we accept orders. You may issue a purchase order if desired and can contact us via phone, email or fax. Every time you order, we will send a confirmation email stating your order was received and is processing. Tracking information is available upon request.
Do you have a minimum order?
Yes. On non-laminated materials (i.e. foam pouches), we have a $200 minimum order with a per piece minimum of 50. For laminated materials (i.e. insulated pouches, insulated box liners, insulated rolls, insulated pallet covers, padded envelopes, etc.), the minimum order is $300.
What is your shipping policy?
For orders under pallet size, we ship via FedEx Ground. Faster FedEx methods (i.e. 3-day, 2-day, and overnight) are available upon special request. We can also ship on your FedEx account, if desired. We do not ship via UPS or on a customer’s UPS account. For orders that are pallet size, we use various freight trucking companies. Because we ship so often, we receive discounts from our carriers. As expected, larger size orders (i.e. pallet and truckload size) get the best shipping rates. Shipping fees are passed on to the customer and are never uplifted.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Our lead time varies depending on the material and quantity. Due to consistent high order volume, our insulated and laminated products typically require a two-week lead time, plus transit time.
Orders for non-laminated foam pouches of less than 10,000 pieces are produced within one to five business days, plus transit time. Orders for non-insulated foam pouches of over 10,000 pieces may require two weeks, plus transit time. We work to ship all orders out as quickly as possible.
What is your return policy?
Because all of our products are custom made and fitted to our customers’ needs, we cannot accept returns.
Where are your products made?
All of our products are made in our Colorado facility.
Where do your raw materials come from?
All of our materials are sourced from companies within the United States.
